Lea Thompson’s Top Ten ’80s Songs
9. “Don’t You Forget About Me,” Simple Minds
Thompson: I have this really great memory of “Don’t You Forget About Me”, because I did this movie called Mayor Cupcake, and my kids were in it. And Judd Nelson played the father. He was in The Breakfast Club. My husband was there, and my daughter was singing “Don’t You Forget About Me” in the movie. John Hughes had just passed, and it was such an interesting kinda circle, you know? My husband had directed a John Hughes movie, and then with Judd Nelson who was in The Breakfast Club, and with my daughter singing that great song. It was like this weird tribute to John, who was such a big part of all of our lives. That was a great song.
