M. Night Shyamalan Sets Two New Movies with Universal
Photo by Dia Dipasupil/WireImageUniversal Pictures and filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan are continuing their prolific partnership with two original projects slated for release in theatres on Feb. 26, 2021, and Feb. 17, 2023, the studio announced on Monday.
Following the success of Shyamalan’s Eastrail 177 trinity of Unbreakable(2000), Split (2017) and Glass (2019), the last two of which Shyamalan worked with Universal to produce, it is no surprise the filmmaker and distributor duo have continued to pursue a mutually beneficial relationship. Shyamalan’s supernatural and highly original thrillers have grossed more than $3.3 billion globally.
Shyamalan said, “There are wonderful studios out there, but Universal has made it a mandate to release original films. They are the best at finding an audience for new stories with unexpected tones. I believe original films are crucial to the longevity of the theatrical experience. I am so excited to be working with them again and bringing new stories to the movie screen for years to come,” per Deadline.
Currently, the cult-favorite filmmaker is awaiting the release of Servant, a psychological thriller series that will debut on the new Apple TV+ streaming service.
