Mahershala Ali in Talks for J.C. Chandor’s Triple Frontier with Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum

The red-hot Mahershala Ali is in early talks to join J.C. Chandor’s Triple Frontier alongside Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy. The film is set in the border zone of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil at the meeting point of two rivers, a haven for unmonitored organized crime. Triple Frontier will be Chandor’s first film after his acclaimed A Most Violent Year in 2014. Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker screenwriter Mark Boal penned the script.

Ali has had an exciting rise in the past couple of years. After gaining popularity in Netflix’s House of Cards, he was featured in the last two Hunger Games films and most recently as the best thing going for Luke Cage, playing Cottonmouth. He also had a pretty sizable turn in last year’s Moonlight, earning him an Oscar nomination. He recently took home a SAG Award for the same performance—watch his powerful acceptance speech below.

Triple Frontier has no release date yet, but will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.
