Listen to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana

Lin-Manuel Miranda is so close to an EGOT, he can taste it. All he’s missing is the Oscar, and he’s working hard to earn it. Miranda wrote all the music for the forthcoming animated film Moana, and Disney has now released one of the songs. Titled “How Far I’ll Go,” the song pretty clearly establishes Moana’s desires.

Two versions of the song will be featured in the film. The version above, sung by Alessia Cara, will be featured in the end credits, while Auli’i Cravalho, who voices Moana, will sing the version used in the film itself.

Disney’s track record at the Academy Awards has always been fairly solid. You may remember a little song called “Let it Go,” the smash-hit from Frozen which won the Oscar just a couple of years ago. For his part, the Hamilton creator already has an Emmy, two Grammys and three Tonys.

Miranda is only one part of the musical team, though. Miranda composed the music alongside composer Mark Mancina and Te Vaka’s Opetaia Foa’i. Disney has already released another track from the film, called “You’re Welcome,” which Dwayne Johnson sings. Listen to that here, and “How Far I’ll Go” below.
