On the Carpet: Timothy Spall

The characters in Mr. Turner had the incredibly difficult job of creating characters without the help of a script. Timothy Spall truly became the titular character of Mike Leigh’s new film, and was recognized for his achievement with a Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival.

In addition to his discussion of his portrayal in Mr. Turner, two of the women in the film, Dorothy Atkinson and Marion Bailey, described their experiences working with Mr. Spall and with legendary director Mike Leigh.
