Original Stars Wars Trilogy to Return to Theaters This August
Photo via Handout/GettyRecent expansions of the Star Wars universe, including The Force Awakens and Rogue One, are enough to turn any fan of the franchise into a stumbling, C-3PO-like mess.
Still, there’s nothing quite like seeing the original trilogy in theaters, or better yet, getting to share that experience with a new generation of fans. Courtesy of Alamo Drafthouse, that dream can now become a reality. The company has announced plans to screen A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi back-to-back-to-back in a total of 20 US cities during the month of August.
The official event, which is called The Return of the Trilogy, will not only include the triple feature, but also specially curated videos that will air between the films, plus several special contests and props. Fans can expect many of the screenings to be held in traditional theaters, but some will get special viewings under the stars.
