Peter Farrelly to Direct Vietnam War Film The Greatest Beer Run Ever

Green Book director Peter Farrelly has revealed his next project, a Vietnam War-set comedy-drama film for Skydance Media called The Greatest Beer Run Ever, according to THR.

The film is an adaptation of a book titled The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War by Joanna Molloy and John “Chickie” Donohue. The true story follows Donohue as he leaves New York for Vietnam in 1967 to have a beer with his childhood friends, who were serving in the Army at the time.

Farrelly will direct the film and co-write it with his Green Book collaborator Brian Currie and Hall Pass writer Pete Jones. Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and Aimee Rivera will produce the project for Skydance. David Ellison and Andrew Muscato will also serve as producers on the film.

Farrelly’s last film Green Book took home Best Picture at the 91st Academy Awards this year, as you may have heard. It also received the award for Best Original Screenplay, and Mahershala Ali won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film.
