The SAG Awards Nominees have Been Announced, with The Irishman on Top

A turning point in any actor’s career is when they receive their Screen Actor’s Guild card, which inducts them into the league of Hollywood’s most notable stars. The nominees for awards honoring such members was just released this morning, (per CNN). The 2020 SAG nominees put Martin Scorsese’s mob epic, The Irishman at the top, along with the Kidman, Theron and Robbie starring Bombshell. The Irishman star Robert De Niro will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for his onscreen roles and humanitarian work offscreen. Lupita Nyong’o earned a nomination for her two contrasting and impactful roles in Jordan Peele’s Us/. The SAG Awards are considered a notable predictor for the nomination landscape for the Academy Awards, and increases competition in a year of fierce performances.

T.V wise, Emmy-winning Fleabag was nominated along with Netflix’s The Crown. Game of Thrones, which was all but shut out of the 77th Golden Globes, earned ensemble nominations, and a well-deserved solo nomination for Peter Dinklage. Ava Duvernay’s “When They See Us” was snubbed at the Globes but earned recognition in Jharrel Jerome’s performance as Korey Wise of the Exonerated 5.

The 26 annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will air live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 8pm ET./5pm PT. The complete list of nominees is below:
