Nostalgic First Trailer for New Scooby-Doo Adventure Scoob! Tells the Origin Story of Mystery Inc.

Jinkies! The official trailer for the never-before-seen origin story of our beloved Mystery Inc. gang is here. Scoob! tells the story of how best buddies Shaggy and Scooby first met, and how they joined the rest of the gang to form their mystery-busting crew. The gang, after hundreds of adventures, now have to “face their biggest, most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world,” per Paramount. As if this “dogpocalypse” weren’t enough, the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.

The trailer is a nostalgic road trip. Little Scoob and Shag are heart-wrenchingly wholesome (so tiny!), and the rest of the gang in their Halloween costumes are a sweet reminder of Saturday mornings joining the Mystery Inc.-ers as they unmasked baddies.

First announced all the way back in 2014, the 3D CGI animation film features Zac Efron as Fred, Amanda Seyfried as Daphne, Gina Rodriguez as Velma, and Will Forte and Frank Welker as inseparable duo Shaggy and Scooby, respectively (sorry, Matthew Lillard). Also starring are Kiersey Clemons as Dee Dee, Jason Isaacs as the infamous Dick Dastardly, Ken Jeong as Dynomutt, Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman and two-time Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg as Blue Falcon.

Scoob! is directed by Tony Cervone, an Annie Award nominee for the feature Space Jam and a two-time Emmy nominee for his work on Duck Dodgers. The movie is slated for a May 15, 2020, release. Check out the trailer and some first-look pics below.
