Second Trailer for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Brings Us Vintage Spy Thrill

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’s second trailer reminds us why we love movies starring secret agents. It’s got all the characteristics of a classic spy film and then some with car chases, boat chases, gunfights, explosions and hand-to-hand combat, just to name a few things seen in the trailer. Directed by Guy Ritchie, director of the Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr., it appears to hew closely to his action roots.

Based on the ’60s show of the same name, the film stars Henry Cavill as CIA agent Napoleon Solo and Armie Hammer as KGB operative Illya Kuryakin. At the height of the Cold War, these agents of opposing countries are forced to work together to stop a mysterious criminal organization (probably seeking to destroy the world, cuz, you know, that’s what mysterious criminal organizations do).

This new trailer offers us more scenes not seen in the previous trailer and is set to Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” (which feels like a perfect match for this genre). Guy Ritchie, who’s known for his quick cuts and fast-paced action sequences, doesn’t appear to be letting up for what could well be his next blockbuster.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. comes out Aug. 14.
