Watch the First 10 Minutes of Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider-Man: Homecoming was a definite bright spot in an otherwise dismal summer at the box office, finding plenty of success, both critical and commercial, upon its May debut. Now, the superhero blockbuster’s home release is right around the corner, and to celebrate, Sony has shared the first 10 minutes of the film.

The movie’s opening minutes begin, unexpectedly enough, with Michael Keaton’s villain, following Adrian Toomes as he loses a huge clean-up contract and then turns his recovered alien scrap to more nefarious purposes, finally making a memorable entrance as Vulture. The Marvel Studios intro divides the video neatly in two, leading into “A film by Peter Parker,” in which Tom Holland’s charismatic Spidey applies his singular talents to amateur documentary filmmaking. A quick recap of where we left our up-and-coming hero after Civil War later, Peter gets a “Don’t call us, we’ll call you” from Tony Stark and heads off to school like a regular schlub.

The 10-minute clip, though far more prologue than feature presentation, nicely captures the tone of Jon Watts’ film. Spider-Man: Homecoming feels more like an infectiously fun, action-packed teen comedy than a self-serious superhero franchise film, and is all the better for it. We’re looking forward to seeing what Watts comes up with for the sequel, due out on July 5, 2019.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is released on digital tomorrow, Sep. 26, and Blu-Ray/DVD on Oct. 17. Watch the first 10 minutes of the film above, read our review here and find the perfect comics to follow it up with here.
