Adam Driver Honors Carrie Fisher on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Carrie Fisher’s recent passing has left a giant hole in the hearts of many fans—fans of her humor, writing and fearless portrayal of Princess Leia. Her presence in the future Star Wars films will undoubtedly be missed. Adam Driver, her villainous co-star in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, honored Fisher during his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday night.

“As you can kind of tell from meeting her, she burns very bright and has just a great, very generous energy,” Driver said. “For that to suddenly not being on-set, [whether] talking about it in publicity or just in life … When you see her around at a Star Wars event or anywhere, to have her character—not only her character in the movie [but who she is as a person]—missing from that very small unit is a tragedy.” Driver’s last time seeing his co-star was on set, “being Princess Leia.”

Fisher finished shooting the still-unnamed Episode VIII last summer, alongside her original co-stars Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, as well as the cast of the new trilogy featuring Driver, Daisey Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac. Her other co-stars recently took to social media recently honoring her life and many accomplishments. Mark Hamill recently tweeted, “‘When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure’ Trying to move forward & failing badly … #KennyAndCarrieOnForever”

Star Wars: Episode VIII releases Dec. 15. Watch Driver’s Late Show interview above, and find Hamill’s tweet below.
