Dominic Monaghan has agreed to join the cast of J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars IX in an undisclosed role, per Deadline.

Monaghan is most famous for portraying the hobbit Merry in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, as well as Charlie Pace on Abrams’ hit ABC series Lost.

Monaghan first expressed interest in reuniting with Abrams in 2014, before The Force Awakens was released.

“The galaxy far, far away has had almost as much influence as the one I live in, so I am delighted to be involved,” Monaghan told Deadline.

Star Wars: Episode IX opens on Dec. 20, 2019.
