Watch the Inspiring Final Trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Images via DisneyRogue One: A Star Wars Story doesn’t have to be good to make oodles of money, but it will be anyway. In the final trailer for this standalone Star Wars installment, we get a better sense of why Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso is so crucial to the Rebel Alliance looking to steal the plans for the Death Star. It turns out her father (Mads Mikkelsen) built the thing.
Rogue One focuses on the team tasked with stealing the plans for the first Death Star that are so instrumental to the original Star Wars from 1977. Without these plans, things probably would have gone a little differently in that film.
This new trailer is also filled with other revelations. We see it confirmed that Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera is part machine, with a cybernetic leg. We also discover the reason Erso comes to join the Rebel Alliance, when she’s broken out of an Imperial prison.
Although many were concerned about re-shoots on Rogue One, there doesn’t seem to be any kind of massive shift in tone from the film’s first trailer. If anything, this second trailer doubles down on the ideas of uplift and inspiration that were at the core of that trailer. These are down-and-dirty rebels, most of whom aren’t gifted with the Force. It’s time to see their story.
