New on Starz: All the Movies and TV Coming in November

As we look ahead to the holiday season, it feels as if 2019 is practically upon us already, but don’t forget November, the penultimate month of this rapidly disappearing year, in which a cavalcade of feature films and TV shows make an appearance at Starz. Here’s what we’re looking forward to on the pay-cable channel’s November streaming slate.

The brightest highlight among Starz’s impending additions was billed not as a major motion picture, but as a “major emotion picture”: Disney-Pixar’s Oscar-winning animated feature Inside Out (Nov. 17). The feeling-filled 2015 film, co-directed by Pixar’s Pete Docter and Ronnie Del Carmen, features the voices of Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling, Lewis Black and Phyllis Smith as the emotions—joy, fear, disgust, anger and sadness, respectively—of 11-year-old Riley (Kaitlyn Dias), who has a tough time adjusting after her parents (voiced by Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan) relocate their family from the Midwest to the West Coast. Inside Out boasts the kind of inventive storytelling, eye-popping animation and poignant emotion that Pixar made their name on—don’t miss it, Starz subscribers. Before that film’s mid-month debut, though, the platform is adding a number of other noteworthy titles, many of which premiere on Nov. 1, like George Miller’s family adventure Babe: Pig In The City, Terry Gilliam’s fever-dreamlike Hunter S. Thompson adaptation Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, John Wayne-starring World War II classic Sands of Iwo Jima and underrated music industry spoof Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, starring the wonderful John C. Reilly as a screwball Johnny Cash clone. Films following later in the month include Oscar-winning superhero adventure Big Hero 6 and beloved animated fairytale Frozen on Nov. 10, Chloé Zhao’s acclaimed drama The Rider (one of Paste’s favorite films of the year so far) on Nov. 22, Viggo Mortensen-starring family dramedy Captain Fantastic on Nov. 26, Daniel Craig-led WWII drama Defiance on Nov. 27 and Rob Marshall’s Oscar-nominated musical adaptation Into The Woods on Nov. 28.

On the TV side of the equation, Starz’s biggest incoming title is Emmy-nominated time-travel fantasy series Outlander, making its return for a fourth season on Sunday, Nov. 4. The show, adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s novel series of the same name, begins its new installment by picking up the story of time-traveling 1960s doctor Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and her 18th-century Highlander husband Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) as they try to make a home for themselves in the dangerous New World of colonial America; meanwhile, in the 20th century, their daughter Brianna Randall (Sophie Skelton) and historian Roger Wakefield (Richard Rankin) search for proof that Brianna’s parents found each other in the past. Outlander’s return is preceded by the Starz debut of the Emmy-winning Friday Night Lights TV series, streaming in its entirety beginning on Thursday, Nov. 1. And on Monday, Nov. 19, comes Ferrari: Race To Immortality, a Starz documentary feature from director Daryl Goodrich that explores Ferrari’s entry into the Formula One World Championship and the ensuing deadliest decade in motor racing history. The intense-sounding documentary “tells the story of the loves and losses, triumphs and tragedy of Ferrari’s most decorated drivers in an era where it was la dolce vita during the week and a coin toss of whether they lived or died on the weekend,” per Starz.

Wise streamers will take note before going off on their merry way that Starz is losing a number of enticing titles in November, as well. Departing films include sci-fi standout District 9 (Nov. 3), screwball-comedy classic Dumb & Dumber (Nov. 7), Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s delightful directorial debut Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs (Nov. 16), Paul Verhoeven’s Oscar-nominated revenge thriller Elle (Nov. 28), Chris Pratt- and Jennifer Lawrence-starring blockbuster Passengers (Nov. 28), sci-fi cult classic Zardoz (Nov. 29), John Carpenter’s body-horror masterwork The Thing (Nov. 30), Matt Damon-starring suspense-thriller The Talented Mr. Ripley (Nov. 30) and beloved Mel Brooks/Gene Wilder comedy Young Frankenstein (Nov. 30). Adjust your Starz queue accordingly.

You’ll find the full list of Starz’s incoming and outgoing November titles below.
