Robert Pattinson in Talks to Return to His Bat Form in Matt Reeves’ The Batman

The long, arthouse daylight hours might be winding down for Robert Battinson—ahem, Pattinson. Per a Thursday evening report from Variety, the actor is in negotiations to play The Batman, finally letting him return to his true form: a freakin’ bat.

Jokes aside, this is a fascinating development for Matt Reeves’ forthcoming superhero flick, which notably lost its writer, director and Batman, Ben Affleck. We, for one, welcome the night, and hope to see what Pattinson’s rendition of Bats would look like.

In his post-Twilight career, Pattinson has run the gamut of arthouse directors, having worked with Claire Denis, the Safdie Brothers, Robert Eggers and others. He’s about to start working on Christopher Nolan’s next film, making this potential casting that much more timely.

While there’s been no news on when production on The Batman will start, the film is still slated for a June 25, 2021, release. Stay tuned for more information on The Batman; who knows, maybe we’ll be reporting that Kristen Stewart will be playing The Joker in a few days.
