Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch Gets July 2020 Release Date

Wednesday brought new details of Wes Anderson’s much-anticipated 10th film The French Dispatch, which Searchlight Pictures (formerly Fox Searchlight, but since rebranded under Disney) will release in theaters on July 24, 2020. The announcement is also accompanied by the film’s first poster and an official synopsis, both of which mostly just emphasize the period piece’s stacked cast.

The French Dispatch “brings to life a collection of stories from the final issue of an American magazine published in a fictional 20th-century French city,” according to its synopsis. Said American magazine is revealed by the film’s poster, which appears to tack on a subtitle to the film: The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun.

Written and directed by Anderson from a story by Anderson, Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman and Hugo Guinness, The French Dispatch stars Benicio Del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Lea Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Lyna Khoudri, Jeffrey Wright, Mathieu Amalric, Stephen Park, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson.
