Armie Hammer Talked Screenwriter into Scripting The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Sequel

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. star Armie Hammer recently made producer and writer Lionel Wigram say “uncle” about writing a sequel to the spy film, so the movie might actually be happening (which would be kind of great, because the first one was an interesting kind of fun). This news comes from an interview with /Film in which Hammer explained that people ask him about the sequel all the time. He said:

I was like, “Dude, what’s the deal? I get asked about this shit all the time. Can you just write a sequel?” He was like, “You know what? Yeah, fuck it, I’ll do it. Sure, I’ll write a sequel.” I was like, “If you write one, I’m sure we can get one made,” so who knows? Today is the first day I’ve actually told anyone that story. I only told one other person who asked. Apparently, the sequel is being written right now. No pressure, Lionel!

So if Wigram goes missing, just go look at Armie Hammer’s house, where he likely will be living in the basement, furiously and frantically writing a sequel that matches Hammer’s exact specifications. Because he totally Misery’d this guy, right?

Anyway, a Man from U.N.C.L.E. sequel wouldn’t be entirely unwelcome. Hopefully we’ll have more news sooner rather than later, and then we can free Wigram from Hammer’s screenwriter’s dungeon.
