It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to meet the Muppets … in theaters again next month.
In honor of the 40th anniversary of the beloved 1979 classic The Muppet Movie, the film will return to the silver screen at 700 theaters across the country for two days only.
At 12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time on Thursday, July 25, and Tuesday, July 30, fans will get the chance to make “The Rainbow Connection” all over again, courtesy of Fathom Events, The Jim Henson Company and Universal Pictures.
The Muppets started out in television with the massively successful 1970s hit show, The Muppet Show. But creator Jim Henson had more plans in store, taking a creative risk by launching his puppet friends into their first motion picture.
The Muppet Movie, directed by James Frawley, marked the big-screen debut of fan-favorite characters Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and the rest of the gang.
