This Kubo and the Two Strings Trailer Is Heartwarming and Fun

A young boy must face ancient Japanese gods and monsters in this new trailer for Travis Knight’s upcoming stop-motion animation Kubo and the Two Strings.
The teaser, set to a cover of The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” sees Kubo’s quiet life taking care of his mother turned upside down by an ancient spirit. Forced to leave his village, Kubo sets out on a journey to end an age-old vendetta. Accompanied by a few friendly helpers, the young boy travels across land and sea to find a magical suit of armor once worn by his legendary Samurai warrior father that can assist him in his quest. The journey is complicated though by all sorts of havoc, including powerful creatures bent on stopping the young boy.
This fantasy thriller is written by Marc Haimes and Chris Butler, the team behind Paranorman. The film is produced by Laika for Focus Features, and stars Art Parkinson, Matthew McConaughey, Charlize Theron, Rooney Mara, Ralph Fiennes and Brenda Vaccaro. You can catch the animated feature in theaters starting Aug. 19, 2016.
