Watch the First Trailer For Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children

For a few years now Tim Burton has resigned himself to adding his playfully dark touch to playfully dark movies for children. There’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, Frankenweenie— even your 8 year old is getting a little bored, but Burton is back anyway with Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children.

Based on the book by Ransom Riggs, the film stars Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Chris O’Dowd, Ella Purnell, Allison Janney, Rupert Everett, Terence Stamp, Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson. It tells the story of a teenager who must protect a group of peculiar orphans on a fantasy island.

Fox will release Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children on Sept. 30.
