There are a few ways a modern Peanuts movie could go, and the spectrum runs between “Melancholic Masterpiece” and “Charles Schulz Rolling Over in His Grave.” From the teaser trailer that was released today, it’s hard to tell exactly where this one’s going to fall, but it doesn’t look terrible. Take a watch:
The film is loosely scheduled for a Nov. 6, 2015 release by 20th Century Fox, so we’re still a ways away. Craig Schulz, Charles’ son, will produce, and his grandson, Bryan, wrote the script, so the franchise is very much being kept in the family. Steve Martino (Ice Age: Continental Drift) will direct. The imagery will be computer generated rather than traditionally animated, and will utilize 3D technology.
