A Tribe Called Quest Release Revolutionary “We The People” Video, Announce World Tour

We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service, the last album from A Tribe Called Quest, released last week, but the group isn’t done just yet. Speaking to Billboard, founding member Q-Tip said, “This is our last record, and we’ll probably do a world tour. After that, that’s it, for the rest of our lives.” There are no details about the tour available yet, but it’s good to know that we’ll still have a chance to see the group one last time before the story of A Tribe Called Quest comes to an end.

The group also released a video for one of the best tracks off the new album, “We The People.” The video shows young people running from police and massing together as Q-Tip and an animated mural of the late Phife Dawg rap about the hatred that authority propagates. The video culminates with a massive protest, with Phife’s mural looking on. Also, Busta Rhymes shows up, even though he doesn’t have a verse on the song.

Watch the “We The People” video above, and watch Tribe perform the track on SNL below to get a taste of what their upcoming live shows will be like. Beneath that, find Paste Cloud audio from a Tribe show circa 1998.
