A Tribe Called Quest have been going through a series of final goodbyes recently. Last year, the pioneering N.Y. hip-hop group performed their last show in their hometown before ending their live performance careers in England later that year, following the death of founding member Phife Dawg). Their career-culminating album We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service was released to much acclaim in 2016 and out of that, the group has revealed the premise for their final video, “The Space Program.”
On Instagram on Tuesday, ATCQ released a teaser trailer for the short film which will air exclusively on Apple Music sometime in the near future. The Warren Fu-directed clip shows members of the group traveling on an intergalactic journey, with the final scene showing Q-Tip walking on the scene in an undisclosed location, as if he were exploring a new world.
“The Space Program” is a single off Tribe’s 2016 album We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service , whose hit singles brought the group back to the top of the Billboard charts for the first time since 1996 .
