Watch Adele’s Newest Video, “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)”
Photo by Gareth Cattermole/GettyAdele’s highly anticipated latest music video for the single “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” debuted last night at the Billboard Music Awards. The video was directed by Patrick Daughters, the same director behind the Grammy Award-winning clip for “1234” by indie-pop singer Feist. In traditional Adele fashion, the video is cinematic and elegant—it features overlapping, angled shots of the singer in a flowing floral gown and her signature cat-eye, lending a unique mirrored effect to the clips atop a stark black background.
On top of the video debut, the absent singer, who couldn’t attend the awards show due to obligations in Europe for her 25 tour, managed to pick up five awards, among them Top Selling Song for “Hello”, Top Female Artist and Top Billboard 200 Artist. The “Send My Love” clip premiered shortly after Adele’s win over Taylor Swift, the Weeknd and Justin Bieber for Top Billboard 200 Album. The singer left a video message in lieu of an acceptance speech, saying that “I can’t believe I’ve won another one” and thanking her fans for their support. She explained that the album was the result of her overcoming of prior emotional boundaries.
