Exclusive: Adrian Quesada and Angélica Garcia Team Up on New Single “No Juego”

On June 27, Black Pumas’ Adrian Quesada will release his new album, Boleros Psicodélicos II, via ATO Records. With a lineup featuring the likes of Cuco, Gepe, Dayme Arocena, Hermanos Gutiérrez, Ed Maverick, and more, Quesada’s first LP in three years is set to be his most blockbuster effort yet. Today, his new single “No Juego” is available, and it features guest vocals from Angélica Garcia, whose 2024 album Gemelo was one of our very favorites last year. Boleros Psicodélicos II is yet another personal triumph by Quesada, whose collage of bolero, rap, and rock has turned him into a cultural force. “No Juego” marks not just another transformation in Quesada’s long-standing homage to baladas, but the vocal stardom of Garcia as well.

Garcia said of her collaboration with Quesada: “Adrian is very precise in his attention to detail. His records have a warmth to them that I love. ‘No Juego’ is such a dramatic and theatrical song. I’m grateful that Adrian protected the intensity of the song, and I’m glad that he didn’t ask me to tone it down. Sometimes you gotta be direct and talk your shit.” Quesada returned the favor by calling Garcia a “musical force.” “It is always a pleasure to work with her as she brings everything to life, and the emotion is ripping through the speakers when she sings. ‘No Juego’ was based off of an old demo I sent Angélica when making the first Boleros Psicodélicos. She reimagined it by chopping it up as if it were samples, and we were able to work together in the studio in LA to bring this one to life.
