Alex G Shares Serene Video for “Mud”
At times Alex Giannascoli, who records lo-fi bedroom pop under the name Alex G, can be discordant, but even through the cacophony he stresses melody. His Domino debut Beach Music scales back the noise for a collection of tender-hearted songs that abound with hooks (gone are the songs of dogs pissing on the lawn).
“Mud” brings together Alex and his sometimes collaborator Emily Yacina, who along with dueting with G on the track and appearing in its video released a wonderfully ethereal EP last year titled Soft Stuff.
The video is a serene collection of clips stitched together from a trip to a creek where Yacina and Giannascoli play with a tiny snake interspersed with footage of their home city of Philly and G’s favorite dog, Rosie.
