One imagines that playing Minecraft on acid would feel something like Alt-J’s teaser for “3WW.” The video, titled “00110011 01110111 01110111” (the binary code for “3WW”), combines artificial CGI landscapes with an atmospheric guitar and drums. Though the band may not be keeping up with their hope (stated in a 2016 DIY interview) to “write an entire album with an acoustic guitar and a tambourine,” the sound of “3WW” is relatively stripped down.
Stereogum also dug up, pulling from a Japanese iTunes listing, what appear to be the album’s artwork and tracklist—you’ll find those below. According to this listing, which has since been removed from iTunes, the album is set to come out on June 9, their first release since 2014’s This Is All Yours.
