American Football Tease Their First New Music Since 1999
Images via Andy De Santis, Twitter (@americfootball)American Football haven’t released an album since their self-titled debut in 1999. Following a fifteen-year hiatus, the band regrouped last year and announced that they were writing new material.
Beginning last week, the band has been sharing ambiguous videos hinting at the release of new music. Today, in their third installment of teaser posts, we got our first little listen to what they have been working on. For the few moments of music than can actually be heard, it certainly sounds like American Football are writing in the same vein of their self-titled debut that we have all come to know and love. The slow-panning video shows the inside of a house while the music fades in with an ethereal, shimmering, wistful melody.
It’s still entirely impossible to say if this anticipatory buildup is for a full-length album, an EP, or just a single—but it’s clear that the band is gearing up for some sort of release. Even if it’s just one song to be released, it’s monumental nonetheless—it will be the band’s first release of new music in nearly seventeen years. Watch their latest teaser below.
