Listen to Animal Collective Try Out Motown in “Jimmy Mack” Cover

Today, Animal Collective released the final track “Jimmy Mack” from their forthcoming The Painters EP. The track was originally written for Martha & The Vandellas in 1966, but has also been covered Phil Collins and Sheena Easton. Still, it’s safe to say Animal Collective’s is the loosest interpretation the song has seen yet.

The cover manages to infuse Animal Collective’s lighthearted futurism into an already delightful song. The song showcases Animal Collective’s signature talent at interlocking synthesized parts to create a low-calorie euphoria. Listen to the track below, find more info about The Painters EP (to be released tomorrow!) here and listen to EP opener “Kinda Bonkers” further down.
