Take “A Short Trip Through Tangerine Reef” with Animal Collective’s New Extended Trailer
Images courtesy of the artist, Ilya Slead/GettyIt’s the year of the reef and in celebration, Animal Collective are releasing a new audio-visual album called Tangerine Reef later this month. The album is a collaboration between AnCo and Coral Morphologic, a Miami-based duo made up of marine biologist Colin Foord and musician J.D. McKay. The band describes the project as “the sight and sound of a literal underwater collective of animals.”
We’ve already heard “Hair Cutter” from the music side of the album and gotten a sneak peek at the Tangerine Reef visuals with a music video available on Apple Music. On Thursday, they gave us an extended trailer for the album with the release of “A Short Trip Through Tangerine Reef.” The video time-lapses through shots of technicolor coral and alien-like sea creatures over lullaby-like instrumentals. You can watch the full video below.
The full-length Tangerine Reef film will be released on the band’s website alongside the audio’s release on Aug. 17 via Domino.
