Anna Calvi Shares Her Latest Reworked Track from Hunted, “Eden” feat. Charlotte Gainsbourg

A few weeks ago, British musician Anna Calvi revealed that she would be completely reworking her 2018 album Hunter, bringing out a rawer, more pared-down sound. The reworked album is called Hunted, and Calvi also announced that she would be collaborating with Courtney Barnett, Joe Talbot of IDLES, Julia Holter and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Having already shared the latest rendition of “Don’t Beat the Girl out of My Boy” featuring Barnett, Calvi now shares the reworked version of “Eden” featuring Gainsbourg.

The original version of “Eden” is contemplative and rife with sharp instrumental contrasts to Calvi’s hypnotic voice, while the Hunted version opts to channel only the mood provided by Calvi’s guitar and vocals, and the power in the softness of Gainsbourg’s voice.

“Charlotte Gainsbourg has taught me so much as a singer, in how the most quiet of utterances can be the most dramatic and powerful of all,” Calvi said in a statement Monday. “When I was writing ‘Eden’ I had Charlotte’s voice in my head — there’s a secrecy and quiet power to this song that always made me think of her. It’s a dream come true to have collaborated with her.”

Watch the visualizer for “Eden” below and hear Calvi’s 2012 Daytrotter session further down, and revisit the details of Calvi’s forthcoming album here. You can preorder Hunted from Domino Records here.
