Arctic Monkeys closed weekend one of TRNSMT Festival in Glasgow last night (July 1) with the AM favorite “R U Mine?” during their encore. Before the group ended their performance—the first in Scotland since 2014, as reported by the Edinburgh News—Miles Kane joined them onstage for “505,” the final song of the main set. While AM’s set spread across their six records, only “Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair” was off Suck It and See and there was still no sign of the band’s hit “Fluorescent Adolescent.”
Kane and Alex Turner, who play together in The Last Shadow Puppets, looked at ease together, center stage in their all-white ensembles. While Kane was the surprise in AM’s set, he had fun with his own set earlier in the day. Backed by a glowing purple sign reading “Coup De Grace,” a reference to his forthcoming record of the same name, out Aug. 10, Kane played all three of his latest songs—the most recent of which was released at the end of June. Kane also paid homage to the Queen of Disco, Donna Summer, with a cover of “Hot Stuff.”
