Asheville, N.C.’s The Orange Peel to Host Poverty is Real Benefit Concert

Music Features asheville

On Sept. 8, The Orange Peel in Asheville, N.C. will host a Poverty is Real benefit concert. The event will feature North Carolina bands stephaniesid, Laura Reed, The American Gonzos and Red June, and proceeds will go toward Asheville’s Pisgah Legal Services, which helps low-income western North Carolinians with their legal needs.

“We are excited and grateful to be the beneficiaries of the first Poverty Is Real concert in Asheville,” said Pisgah Legal Service’s development director Tina Owen. “This is a great opportunity not only to raise money but also to spread the word about Pisgah Legal Services as one of the leading antipoverty organizations in the region. The money raised will provide free civil legal aid to western North Carolinians in crisis – victims of domestic violence, families facing homelessness, disadvantaged children, and vulnerable seniors.”

Poverty is Real will also be selling a CD comprised of the music of the participating artists as well as some guest collaborators. Additionally, an instrument will be donated to Asheville’s Give to the Music, a non-profit that provides music lessons to underprivileged children.
