Attack Dog Releases New Single “Grin”

Almost a year after releasing their Body Heat EP, Philly outfit Attack Dog has unveiled a soft shift to the band’s hardy, blood-pumping, drum-pounding, D.I.Y. punk sound. They recently returned from their first East Coast tour, and have been garnering a following beyond their usual house-show scene.

“Grin” is an attempt to make something that sounds lovingly digital. “As a resident of Philadelphia, I believe that many of our greatest artists use computers as catapults for their creativity,” frontman Dylan Michael explains. “When done right, digital music can be an avenue for beauty that uniquely resonates with me.”

The song blends rudimentary drum machine sounds, melodic, surfy acoustic guitar, sharp-yet-sweet flute whispers and Michael’s raspy vocals. Conflicting but compounding together perfectly, the elements are reflective of the song itself and the internal conflict it tackles:  “The outcome’s no longer a burden / Strike one fear from the list / Shit eating grin,” Michael sings.
