Beyoncé Announces “Formation Scholars” Scholarship Program

In honor of the one-year anniversary of her iconic visual album Lemonade, Beyoncé has established the “Formation Scholars” scholarship program for women studying creative arts, music, literature or African-American studies. The scholarship, which will be awarded to four women, aims to “encourage and support young women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious and confident.”

The Formation Scholars awards will be available for the 2017/18 school year for incoming, current or graduate students. Only four schools have been selected to participate: Berklee College of Music, Spelman College, Howard University and Parsons School of Design. You can read more about the program on Beyoncé’s website, but details about the application, deadlines and what exactly the scholarship entails are available directly from the colleges. A quick Google search shows that there aren’t really any details available to the public yet—perhaps you can only check it out via the school’s private portal? In any case, the colleges better get the details up fast, because something tells us a lot of people are going to be interested in this one.
