Estate of Bill Monroe Offers Ownership of the Artist’s Name, Likeness, Other Prized Possessions

Legendary country artist Bill Monroe’s possessions—including his name and likeness, his website and a famed childhood home of his, Uncle Pen’s Cabin—will now be up for sale.

Monroe was dubbed the “Father of Bluegrass Music” and is one of the only people to be inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He accumulated a diehard fanbase over his decades-long career, most of whom would be willing to pay through the nose for a chance at his prized possessions.

Some of the items up for sale are personal and business checks (we have no idea why you would want to own these), over 250 live recordings from Bill’s Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival and his back brace. You could also own his last will and testament, in case you want to ensure your soul is forever haunted by the ghost of Bill Monroe. More normal items comprise of memorabilia like his famous 1923 Gibson Lloyd Loar and one of his fiddles.

If you’re interested in owning a part of the Bill Monroe legacy or his personal finance history, you can call his agent at (615) 724-1818. Listen to a 1983 performance by Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys from the Paste vault below.
