Listen: What Happens When Black Lips and Yoko Ono Team Up?

Black Lips, the “flower punk pioneers” from Atlanta, have released a new track “Occidental Front” off their forthcoming album Satan’s graffiti or God’s art? The single features our favorite secret Beatle, Yoko Ono, and her musical talents, a.k.a. screaming—see what we mean below.

The song is as dark and raucous as their last released track, “Squatting in Heaven,” if not more so. We love Yoko’s patented screams layered over Joe Bradley’s skull-pounding drumming. All in all, it’s a solid track that accurately represents how we feel about Mondays.

The Sean Lennon-produced Satan’s graffiti or God’s art? (and yes, we are stealing that title for our next artsy Instagram post caption) is set to drop Friday, May 5 via VICE Records. The band has added a West Coast leg to their tour, which starts tomorrow in North Carolina. You can check out the tour poster below. For some reason, the poster has left off the most important tour date of all—July 21 in their hometown of Atlanta, Ga., at the Variety Playhouse.

Stream “Occidental Front” via Spotify here and below, listen to the band’s 2011 Daytrotter Session and don’t miss arguably the best video of 2010—Yoko’s MoMA voice piece performance. Watch it now, thank us later.
