Blood Orange Announces New Mixtape Angel’s Pulse, Out Friday

Dev Hynes announced via social media on Monday that he will release a new mixtape titled Angel’s Pulse this Friday, July 12.

Angel’s Pulse will be released via Domino and follows Blood Orange’s critically acclaimed 2018 album Negro Swan.

Blood Orange, the musical project of British singer, songwriter and record producer Dev Hynes, previously created three highly streamed full-length LPs.

Combining elements of progressive R&B, indie, hip-hop and alternative-pop, Hynes released Freetown Sound in 2016, Cupid Deluxe in 2013 and Coastal Grooves in 2011.

Regarding the forthcoming record, Hynes said in a statement:

My new record is called Angel’s Pulse & I performed, produced and mixed the entire thing myself. I’m calling it a mixtape.

I have a habit through the years of making records that I just give to friends, or on tape to people on the street, or no one. Usually this material is made directly after the album I’ve just put out. Somewhat of an epilogue to the thing I’ve made before. This time … I decided to release it.

I put as much work and care into it as I do with the albums I’ve released, but for some reason trained myself into not releasing things the rate at which I make them. I’m older now though, and life is unpredictable and terrifying … so here you go mates.

Hope you enjoy. Catch you soon.

Hynes will tour as Blood Orange for the rest of 2019, opening several shows for Tyler, The Creator.
