Boston Calling’s 2017 Lineup: Tool, Mumford & Sons, Chance the Rapper Headlining
Images via Boston Calling/Crashline ProductionsRight before last year’s festival, Boston Calling announced that it would be moving venues in 2017. After four years and seven festivals at Boston’s City Hall Plaza, they would be leaving the downtown location and moving out to the banks of the Charles River to Harvard University’s Athletic Complex in Allston, which promised a bigger festival both in terms of lineup and attendance. They’ve been largely quiet on what that might entail other than revealing that they’d be adding a third stage and a “film experience” curated by Harvard alum Natalie Portman that will focus on women in filmmaking.
Now the expanded lineup is here, and it’s pretty damn impressive.
Headlining the festival are Tool, Mumford & Sons and Chance the Rapper, followed by a top line that includes Bon Iver, The xx, Weezer, The 1975, Sigur Rós and Solange.
Down the lineup you can find many Paste favorites, including Cage the Elephant, Tegan and Sara, Sylvan Esso, Mac DeMarco, Wolf Parade, Danny Brown, Car Seat Headrest, Mitski, Whitney and Hiss Golden Messenger, and at the bottom of the lineup you can find a host of local favorites from the old (Buffalo Tom) to the new (Cousin Stizz, Vundabar).
Boston Calling takes place Memorial Day weekend, May 26-28, and tickets are on sale now. See the full lineup and listen to Mumford & Sons and Friends play a session for Daytrotter via the Paste Cloud below.
