The annual BottleRock festival in Napa Valley will return for its fifth year on Memorial Day weekend (May 26-28), with a lineup featuring one of their best and most well-rounded collections of artists to date. Headlining the festival are Foo Fighters, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and Maroon 5, each of whom are sure to turn in crowd-pleasing sets. But each day of the festival is likely to be filled with great music as the lineup also boasts acts from across the musical spectrum, including Modest Mouse, The Roots, Mavis Staples, Bob Moses, Ani DiFranco, St. Lucia, Hiss Golden Messenger and plenty more.
This will notably be Foo Fighters’ first official U.S. show in almost two years as they end their hiatus. They will go on to spend the majority of their summer playing a slew of European festivals, including Roskilde Festival in Denmark and NOS Alive in Portugal.
Also noteworthy is the inclusion of Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, which appears to bode well for Bradley’s health. In October, the “Screaming Eagle of Soul” was forced to clear his tour schedule after being diagnosed with stomach cancer. All of us at Paste hope this BottleRock booking is, as it appears to be, an indication that Bradley is recovering.
In addition to the music, and taking full advantage of its idyllic setting, BottleRock also makes sure to provide a bevy of high-quality options for food, beer and, of course, wine. Their website features a list of more than 20 vineyards and wineries that will be at BottleRock, and there is no shortage of delicious-looking food vendors making everything from traditional festival fare like pizza and sandwiches to full gourmet dinners. They even have a dedicated Culinary Stage sponsored, which last year featured celebrity chefs like Gordon Ramsey and Masaharu Morimoto, along with musicians like Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters.
