Hear Car Seat Headrest’s Latest Twin Fantasy Single, “My Boy (Twin Fantasy)”

Car Seat Headrest’s reimagining of their self-released 2011 album Twin Fantasy is nearly here, and the band has delivered another single to help us count down these last 10 days. “My Boy (Twin Fantasy),” featured today as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1, is now streaming.

The album-opening track begins with understated drums and bass before Will Toledo laments, “My boy, we don’t see each other much.” The song gradually expands from there before reaching its explosive, cymbal-smashing pinnacle. A press release refers to Toledo’s moving lyrics—“It’ll take some time, but somewhere down the line / We won’t be alone”—as “the statement-of-intent for the record’s exhilarating, adventurous sonic and emotional world.”

“My Boy (Twin Fantasy)” follows previous Twin Fantasy singles “Beach Life In Death, “Nervous Young Inhumans” and “Cute Thing.” The music video for “Nervous Young Inhumans” constituted Toledo’s directorial debut.
