On the heels of announcing her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, set to release on April 6 via Atlantic Records, Bronx-native Cardi B shared on Friday her latest single, “Be Careful.”
Unlike the rapper’s previous bangers like “Bodak Yellow” and “Bartier Cardi,” “Be Careful” shows the artist’s softer side, which some have speculated comes as a response to her fiancé Offset’s (of Migos) alleged infidelities.
Cardi B’s almost Drake-like lyrics slow down the artist’s usually in-your-face persona. We can even hear Cardi B sing a little during the chorus: “Be careful with me, do you know what you’re doing? / Whose feelings that you’re hurting and bruising? / You gon’ gain the whole world but is it worth the girl that you’re losing?”
Allegations of Offset’s infidelity have been an ongoing issue in the couple’s relationship. Cardi B confirmed the cheating rumors in an cover story for Cosmopolitan,, defiantly revealing her motives for staying with her partner even after the allegations:
“It’s like everybody is coming down my neck like, ‘Why are you not leaving him? You have low self-esteem.’ I don’t have low self-esteem … I know I look good. I know I’m rich, I know I’m talented. I know I could get any man I want—any basketball player, football player. But I want to work out my shit with my man, and I don’t got to explain why.
