Watch Chance the Rapper Perform “Summer Friends” on Good Morning America
Images via YouTubeChance the Rapper made a surprising appearance on network-TV morning talk show Good Morning America early this morning, performing the song “Summer Friends” from his most recent mixtape, Coloring Book.
It’s a rare treat for an artist relatively new to fame like Chance to feature on a prominent network program so early in his career, but as the show itself states in the caption below Chance’s interview, he’s a quickly rising star—he’s already collaborated with some major names in hip-hop, including Kanye West, Childish Gambino, Jeremih, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Future and many more.
Chance was joined onstage by Francis Starlite of Francis And The Lights, Chance’s newly announced touring partner, who provides vocals on top of Peter Cottontale’s piano (a member of The Social Experiment, Chance the Rapper’s group with whom he released the album Surf). Exhibiting his typical stage charisma and intensity, Chance elevates an otherwise low-key performance and even sits down with GMA anchor Robin Roberts to discuss his mixtape, upcoming tour and giving back to the community, as well as inspiring a new generation of aspiring rappers.
