Stone Temple Pilots Pay Heartfelt Tribute to Chester Bennington in Statement
Photo by Ethan Miller/GettyStone Temple Pilots have released a statement regarding Chester Bennington’s death by suicide. Los Angeles law enforcement found the former Linkin Park frontman’s body yesterday morning. Bennington, who was 41, sang with Stone Temple Pilots from 2013 to 2015.
Today, the band paid tribute to the late vocalist on their website, saying that Bennington showed them “time and time again what it is to be an incredible human being.” Sadly, this also marks the second time Stone Temple Pilots have lamented the death of one of their vocalists, the first being Scott Weiland in 2015.
“A beacon of light and hope is what you will always be to us,” the band said. “We love you Chester. We will miss you.”
Bennington’s Linkin Park bandmates expressed their grief on Twitter. Vocalist Mike Shinoda said that he and his bandmates were “shocked and heartbroken.” Shinoda also said that an official statement from Linkin Park will come once they have one.

Chester,
It is a sad day today to know that so many of us will no longer share in your laughter, friendship and love. You showed us time and time again what it is to be an incredible human being. A beacon of light and hope is what you will always be to us. We love you Chester. We will miss you.
