CHVRCHES Detail New Album, Love Is Dead

CHVRCHES recently released their first new single in two years, the massive “Get Out,” and they’ve been steadily teasing their new album since late January. The latest info from their forthcoming third LP came on Monday evening, when the Glaswegian synth-pop trio tweeted an image of the album’s tracklist, captioned with its ostensible title.

The image, backgrounded by a photo of the band, features a number of apparent lyrics from the record, some of which are scratched out and repeated. Running up and down the right side is the 14-item tracklist, which reads:
LOVE IS DEAD
GRAFFITI
GET OUT
DELIVERANCE
MY ENEMY
FOREVER
NEVER SAY DIE
MIRACLE
GRAVES
HEAVEN / HELL
GOD’S PLAN
REALLY GONE
ii
WONDERLAND
The title of the fifth track, “My Enemy,” is barely legible, suggesting that perhaps it will be the next single to see the light of day. As Stereogum points out, that song will feature The National’s Matt Berninger, who also appeared in the group’s “Get Out” visual.
As revealed upon the release of “Get Out,” CHVRCHES worked with Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Sia) on their new album. It will be fascinating to see how Kurstin’s megawatt production (as evidenced by “Get Out”) contrasts with the seemingly dark direction CHVRCHES are taking their songwriting, judging from their album’s title and tracklist.
