Daily Dose: Clean Cut Kid, “Slow Progress”

Daily Dose is your daily source for the song you absolutely, positively need to hear every day. Curated by the Paste Music Team.

English pop quartet Clean Cut Kid have released a new track from their forthcoming EP, Painkiller, out on Oct. 22.

The band released their debut album, Felt, last year. They’ve also appeared at SXSW and Glastonbury Festival, and they’ve opened for the likes of The Killers, The Kooks, Michael Kiwanuka and Peace.

Following the release of another new track, “Emily,” “Slow Progress” is a head-bopping indie-pop tune with lead singer Mike Halls’ glossy, sun-drenched vocals, slick, booming percussion, harmonized backing vocals and super-charged fuzzy guitars. The track’s outro also features the kind of face-melting guitar solo you’d expect from a ‘70s hair band.

Clean Cut Kid have started to tease the release of their second LP on social media with the hashtag #cckalbum2, but no word on a release date yet.
