Kurt Vile & Courtney Barnett Release First Song, “Over Everything”: Listen
From the forthcoming Lotta Sea Lice, out in October.
Yesterday, new details emerged about the forthcoming collaborative album and tour by slacker-rock idols Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile. The record, due out in October on Matador, Marathon Artists and Milk! Records, will be called Lotta Sea Lice.
Now we have the first taste of the music, the pretty, swaying “Over Everything. You can watch the video below, which has Barnett lip-syncing to the Vile vocals and vice versa.
Other tracks on the album include “Continental Breakfast,” about their long-distance friendship; a few covers, including Belly’s “Untogether”; and several reinterpretations of each other’s songs. Vile and Barnett are gearing up to go on tour in the fall backed by The Sea Lice, an all-star crew comprising Janet Weiss (Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag), Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint), Rob Laakso (The Violaters, The Swirlies, Mice Parade) and Katie Harkin (Sky Larkin, touring member of Sleater-Kinney and Wild Beasts). They’re also currently working on their own respective records.
