Cut Copy Share Trippy New Video for “Airborne”

Earlier this month, indie-electronica ensemble Cut Copy released their first official single in four years, “Airborne.” Today we are treated to the synth-heavy, catchy tune’s wildly imaginative music video, which you can watch above.

The video, directed by Gerson Aguerri (The Vaccines, Breakbot), follows frontman Dan Whitford as a trek for a late-night munch leads him down a surreal rabbit-hole filled with otherworldly characters and bizarre street views.

In a press release, Whitford had this to say about the making of the trippy experience:

The video for our song ‘Airborne’ is probably the most interesting and most challenging that I’ve ever been involved in. It was shot in Barcelona, all through the night for three days running and culminated with a final scene with me having not slept for 24 hours and playing a piano on the back of a moving truck. To say it was a once in a lifetime experience is no understatement! Despite the sleep deprivation, Gerson and his team at CANADA did a fantastic job bringing this surreal story to life.

The contagious, energetic rhythm of “Airborne” creates a tone of anticipation for whatever the Grammy-nominated group has in store for fans—although no announcement for a new record has been made, we can’t wait to find out what that is.

Watch the bizarre new video above.
