Daily Dose: Loch Lomond, “Legs & Antlers”

The evolution of Portland band Loch Lomond has been a lovely thing to behold. As leader Richie Young put it about the writing of the group’s new single “Legs and Antlers,” he’s lately been “challenging myself to work outside the folk orchestra aesthetic I’m known for.” And what he and his bandmates came up with was this buoyant little gem that trundles along on a light disco pop groove and Young’s poignant and strangely sensual lyrical detail.

To support this new track, Young made a video that he says is a family affair, filmed in his hometown of Bend, Oregon, and using his mom and dad as crew members. “The video represents the run of life,” he says, “we all have a beginning, if we’re lucky make an amazing adventure of it, and then, in the end we get crushed. All of us. Another wish of mine is that we all get to make cake and dance with a dolphin before the inevitable occurs.”
